The Players of St Peter have been performing Medieval Mystery Plays for over 60 years, many of them in the City of London. For the next two nights (Thursday 10th and Friday 11th December)they are performing scenes from 15th Century Plays updated and adapted by Director Olive Stubbs. We have spaces at the 8.30 p.m. performances and you will usually get a ticket if you come along 15 minutes, or so, before the beginning of the performance and pay on the door. The "second house" is discounted and there is a further discount if you show a valid student ID card. The Old English language of the Plays has been updated to make the text accessable to modern audiences and the stories and scenes, whilst religious in content, would be of great interest to those with a love of English Theatre. They were the precursor to Pantomine and to much of Shakespeare's work (and his Elizabethan contemporaries). These pre-Reformation Plays are not just great entertainment, but a fine old English tradition well worth supporting. We perform at St. Clements Church, Clement's Lane (off King William St- on the north side of London Bridge), EC4. Nearest tubes are Monument (take the King William St exit) or Bank (take the Lombard St exit). See the website www.theplayersofstpeter.org.uk for further details. If you'd like to join the Company of Players then come along to our auditions in July 2010.
