The Fringe Theatre in London offers a wealth of opportunity to see original and established plays and players for a fraction of prices in the West End. Take into account the cost of a meal for two then it could be well worth the journey to Richmond, Wimbledon, Hampstead or Stratford to experience some of the best that London Fringe theatres have to offer.
North London has the Hampstead Theatre close to Swiss Cottage tube station and a wide choice of restaurants nearby. Otherwise there’s Upstairs at the Gatehouse in Highgate, not to forget the intimate Camden Peoples Theatre, almost in the West End. Southwest of London are the Richmond and Wimbledon theatres and in the East the Stratford. Thee are many more and the following is by no means complete directory of fringe theatres in London. Telephone them or check out their websites to find out what’s on, there’s always something on somewhere.
